RODWLL WILL MISS EURO 2012

Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell is expected to miss the Euro 2012 as a result of the hamstring injury he has been suffering from over the last few months. Jack Rodwell is one of the most promising young players for the England national team. Former England manager Fabio Capello said that he saw Jack Rodwell as a player capable of replacing either Rio Ferdinand or John Terry at the back for England. However, the last few seasons has been a struggle for the Everton midfielder, who has been beset by a number of injury problems. The latest one troubling him is the hamstring, which could force him to miss the Euro 2012 according to new rumours.

The 21-year-old recently completed the first 90 minutes after a long time in the Merseyside derby match against Liverpool recently. Even though Everton lost to the match quite heavily 3-0, with Luis Suarez stealing the show, the presence and the performance of Jack Rodwell has come under praise. However, the hamstring problem once again came to the fore just ahead of the match against Arsenal on Wednesday night. Rodwell was forced to withdraw from the squad just ahead of the match. Everton lost the match 1-0, thus suffering consecutive defeats after a run of nine games without defeat.

“He seems quite strong mentally and he will overcome this. Once he gets into the team and gets a run, he will improve. Jack is at the stage where he needs to be a regular. This has set him back a little bit but I have got every confidence that he is going to be a top player for Everton and England,” Steve Round said ahead of the FA Cup match with Sunderland. The timeframe for the return of Jack Rodwell to the first-team action is not known yet.
