Everton have once again been linked with a move for their former midfielder Jack Rodwell, who has struggled throughout his season with Manchester City. After several injury problems, the player has been training well in the last few months. However, he has barely got a look into the team that features several stars like Yaya Touré and Fernandinho in the middle of the park. Due to this intense competition, he made just 26 appearances in the last two seasons of the club. In order to rediscover his career, Rodwell appears set to move away from City on a permanent basis.
Everton tried to bring him back during the January transfer window, but the presence of Gareth Barry – already on loan from City – prevented this move from happening. Now that Barry has returned back to City, Everton will be free to make a move for Rodwell. However, they are not the only club looking to sign the former England international, as the likes of Newcastle United are also keen on signing him. Due to his recent injury problems, City are unlikely to negotiate for long when it comes to transfer fees.
This is believed to be one of the major reason behind Newcastle United’s entry into the situation. However, a move back to his former club will always sound enticing for the midfielder, who recently picked up his Premier League medal with City. Manchester city brought the youngster from Everton for a fee of around £ 12 million. He had been representing Everton since the age of 16 when he made his debut in the UEFA cup. Rodwell has been at City for the last two seasons, but he has had limited impact and his career is in danger of going astray if he does not start playing regular football once again.
