FUTURE OF EVERTON
Everton legend Peter Reid has said that he expects the midfield trio of Jack Rodwell and Ross Barkley to become the future of Everton in the next couple of seasons. The England under 21 international Jack Rodwell was regarded as the big thing to come from Everton after Wayne Rooney. However, he has suffered numerous injury problems in the last few seasons, which have proved to be extremely detrimental in his efforts to improve as a player. In the meantime, the 18-year-old midfielder Ross Barkley has emerged as another potential star from the Everton youth academy.
Peter Reid, who is regarded as a legend at Goodison Park, has said that he is extremely confident that both these players will prove to be standing for Everton in the near future. He expects them to continue development in various stages over the next few years before they start to perform as people expect them to do. Jack Rodwell and Ross Barkley, however, have been linked with moves away from Goodison Park. It is expected that both these players will help Everton get around £ 60 million in transfer fees, which can then be reinvested in improving the whole squad. Peter Reid, however, thinks that Everton should keep both these players.
“We’ve had Naismith come in and there’s speculation about Pienaar. Hopefully the two young lads, (Jack) Rodwell and (Ross)Barkley will be fit and put pressure on for a first team place as well. Jelavic in the last transfer window was a master-stroke. If they can actually get Pienaar it would be great, and then you’re looking at a really strong, well-balanced squad which you would want at any football club,” said the former Everton player Peter Reid ahead of the start of the pre-season. David Moyes has just past the decade mark in charge of Everton.

WILSHERE BACKS HODGSON
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has said that Roy Hodgson should deserve all the credit for getting the England managerial job against all the odds. Former West Brom manager Roy Hodgson was recently confirmed as the England manager up until the Euro 2016. Jack Wilshere, who is currently out injured, said that he was welcoming the appointment of the former West Brom manager. Roy Hodgson and Harry Redknapp were the favourites to take over from Fabio Capello, who resigned only a few months ago after suffering a break down in relationship with the English FA. The English FA have been leaving the appointment of a successor as late as possible.
Jack Wilshere will be missing the Euro 2012 after suffering a setback in his attempts to recover from the long term injury he suffered last season. It has been almost 12 months since Jack Wilshire was last seen on the pitch. Roy Hodgson would have loved to have the Arsenal midfielder in the squad for the Euro 2012 given that it would have provided the 20-year-old with great experience about the international game. Hodgson would also have loved to have the passing skills of Jack Wilshire in the team. Hodgson has received backing from almost every major England player following his appointment.
“Not many have the experience of Roy Hodgson. Proved he is a top manager at international level so don’t see a reason why he can’t do it for England. Good choice in my opinion. Good luck and I hope I can help him in some way in the future,” Jack Wilshere said on Twitter. Hodgson had a poor spell at Anfield only a few seasons ago, but Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard was quick to confirm his delight at being able to work with Hodgson once again.
