BAYERN MUNICH TARGET MAN UNITED ACE TO REPLACE LEWANDOWSKI

German champions Bayern Munich are targeting Manchester United man Marcus Rashford as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Polish striker Lewandowski looks set to depart the Bavarian club in the summer, according to reports, Barcelona is set to be his next destination.

The 33-year-old has been in scintillating form once again, his 35 goals this season makes him the highest scoring player across the top 5 leagues in Europe, further cementing himself as one of the best strikers in world football. But contract talks with Bayern hasn’t materialised into a new deal, and Bayern could look to cash in on their star man to avoid letting him leave for nothing when his current deal expires next summer.

Since arriving from Dortmund in 2014, Lewandowski has scored 344 goals in 375 appearances for Bayern. Ahead of their final game against Villarreal, Barcelona coach Xavi revealed that his club are in talks to bring Lewandowski to Catalan.

United man Rashford has endured a torrid season, the team’s poor form didn’t help his development and his own form has been bitterly disappointing too. Rashford has only managed to find the back of the net five times in 32 appearances for the Old Trafford club.

Despite his poor season, the potential is still there and he has previously showed what he is capable of but since his penalty miss against Italy in the Euro 2020 final, he has failed to maintain any kind of form to nail down a regular starting spot at United.

Rashford announced himself to the Old Trafford faithful in spectacular style when he scored twice on his United debut, he then backed that up three days later with another brace, this time on his Premier League debut against Arsenal. He also scored on his England debut, scoring inside three minutes in a 2-1 win over Australia. In total, Rashford has made 303 appearances for United, scoring 93 times.
